This beautiful park, a local favorite, nestles alongside the St. Croix River, one of the original 8 Wild and Scenic Rivers. It hosts a diverse variety of wildlife and lies in the transition zone of pine forest, hardwood forest, and oak savanna. This area was home to nomadic people 6000 years ago and was integral to the modern history of the state of Minnesota.

This popular park in northwest Wisconsin features spectacular views of Willow Falls and the Willow River Gorge. Prairie remnants, scenic hiking trails, lakeside picnic areas and a nature center are all found in the rolling countryside of Willow River State Park.

Minneopa State Park is a scenic gem in Minnesota, named for the Dakota phrase “water falling twice,” highlighting its signature double waterfalls. The park’s trails showcase a mix of forest and prairie, and a valley shaped by ancient glacial activity. The park’s wildlife features white-tailed deer, bison, coyotes, beaver, and a diverse bird population.

This area encompasses the Superior Hiking Trail, over 300 miles of remote pathway following rocky ridges and scenic overlooks through forests of birch, aspen, pine, fir, and cedar.

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park – fondly known as "the Porkies" – features 60,000 acres of old-growth forest, roaring waterfalls, Lake Superior shoreline, rivers, trails and ridges, the park’s incomparable vistas make Michigan’s largest state park a popular destination for camping, hiking, snowmobiling, fishing and more. The park boasts many popular natural attractions, including Lake of the Clouds and the scenic Presque Isle River corridor.

Isle Royale National Park is a remote island cluster in Lake Superior, near Michigan’s border with Canada. It’s a car-free wilderness of forests, lakes and waterways, where moose and wolves roam. The Greenstone Ridge Trail links the Windigo Harbor in the west and Rock Harbor in the east. The 19th-century Rock Harbor Lighthouse has a small museum. Dive sites in the lake include several shipwrecks.
